A 59-year-old Barkhamsted man was arraigned Monday on charges that he posted threatening messages referencing Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on a television station’s website, state police said.

John Montysko, of Swanson Road, appeared in Superior Court in New Britain. He is charged with inciting injury to person, second-degree threatening and possession of a prohibited assault weapon.

State police opened an investigation after Montysko allegedly posted the threatening comment on April 14. Investigators found an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle during a search of his home on April 19, police said.

Bail was set at $200,000 on the threatening and inciting injury to person case, which will be handled in New Britain. State police made that arrest after being alerted to the online comment by staff at WFSB Channel 3.

His bail on the weapon charge is $20,000 and he is due Tuesday in Superior Court in Bantam to face that charge.
