The Capitol Report panel discusses the battle over the state budget as well as Gov. Dannel P. Malloy taking heat for allowing People Magazine to pay for his trip to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.
Malloy has taken criticism from Republicans for allowing the publication to pay for his trip. After the criticism, Malloy agreed to write the magazine a check for $1,234 to reimburse them for the travel costs.
Malloy said Thursday that he “probably shouldn’t have” allowed People Magazine to pay for his recent trip to Washington, D.C.
“I just decided to head the whole thing off rather than take away from the important work, for instance, on education reform that has to be done,” Malloy told reporters in comments that lasted less than two minutes outside the state Capitol early Thursday evening. “So we’re pretty much done with it.”
