Mugshot: Anthony Lee Faulk

WATERBURY A 16-month-old girl died after a car crash Sunday evening, and a 31-year-old North Carolina man is expected to be charged with manslaughter, police said.

Anthony Lee Faulk was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala south on Wolcott Street around 6 p.m. Sunday, according to a release from Waterbury Police Acting Deputy Chief Christopher Corbett.

He was intoxicated at the time, police believe.

Faulk rear-ended a 1997 Mazda Protégé that was stopped at a red light at Long Hill Road, the release states.

Inside the Mazda were the driver, Takiah Rollinson, 18, of Waterbury; the front-seat passenger, Demonae Coleman, 19, of Waterbury; and Rollinson’s child, Aaliyah Santiago, was in a car seat in the rear.

Santiago, who suffered a head injury, was brought by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital and later flown by Lifestar to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

She died overnight.

The others were not seriously injured.

Faulk was initially charged with driving under the influence, second-degree assault with a motor vehicle and other crimes.

The child died after the charges were filed, and police anticipate adding a charge of manslaughter with a motor vehicle, the release states.

Faulk has a criminal history that includes convictions for larceny and motor vehicle violations, the release states.
