Two University of Hartford students have developed a gun safety app as part of a class project. The app can be tailored to any age group.

Kevonna Hayes and Jane Cracovaner are the students behind the app. They join the Morning Extra, along with Colleen Desai, who is the president of the Emergency Nurses Association, to demonstrate how the app works and also how it applies to public safety.

The class project was to create an app that would explain gun safety issues to the following: parents of toddlers and young children, parents of pre-teens and teens, and adults. There is also a safety quiz on the app, which was developed with information from State Police. The class presented their content and an example of how the app could work to a panel comprised of representatives from area hospitals including Saint Francis and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, the University of Hartford, and the Hartford Police Department.
