The owner of Delta Arsenal in Wallingford says he spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to move his store from Meriden to its new location. But Doug Odishoo says the state’s new gun control laws – among the toughest in the nation – may force him out of business.
The law limits what types of weapons can be sold and bans high-capacity magazines.
“Well, alright. If you want to get rid of that, I want you to get rid of cars that go over 65 mph because that’s the law,” Odishoo said.
Odishoo says his business this year will be off by at least 30 to 40 percent over 2012. He grew up in Berlin, the son of a police officer, but feels no allegiance to Connecticut.
“If I was still in Meriden, and we didn’t moove here, I wasn’t going to stay,” he said. “I had enough of Connecticut.”
Some of his customers are just so confused by gun laws, they’re just turning in their guns to him. Others are moving out of state.
“You got Governor Malloy pushing through alcohol on Sundays, but, yet, 28 people each day die from drunk driving accidents,” Odishoo said.
