NEW HAVEN – A city man was killed and two other men were injured in a shooting near the intersection of Crown and College streets early Saturday, police said.

Officers responded to the intersection at 1:57 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the area, police said. Officers working in the downtown nightclub district heard the shooting and also responded to the scene.

Two victims, Michael Washington, 19, of New Haven, and Tyrell Drew, 21, of New Haven, were located at the intersection, police said. Washington was shot in the leg and Drew was shot in the chest. Drew died soon after arriving at Yale-New Haven Hospital, police said. Washington suffered a fractured femur and is in stable condition.

Around 3 a.m., a third victim, Kiyhem Booker, 34, arrived at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport and said he was injured during the same incident, police said. Booker was shot in the left shin and left side. He was treated and released from the hospital, police said.

Police said the shooting is believed to have been perpetrated by one person and may have been the aftermath of an earlier dispute at a nightclub in the are.

No suspect description is available at this time, police said. Police plan to enhance patrols in the area through the weekend.
