Cyomara Pedersen and Lucy Brakoniecki join the show to talk about Hartford Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (HTPPI), a program designed to significantly decrease the rates of pregnancy, STI’s and HIV among the teen population of Hartford.
HTPPI is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention funded grant that seeks to reduce the teen birth rates in Hartford by 10% by 2015. The City of Hartford Department of Health and Human Services manages the project, and endeavors to meet this goal by providing evidence-based sexual health programs, increasing youth access to clinical services, and community outreach in a sustainable and culturally sensitive manner.
