HARTFORD – A man told police he went to a party in Massachusetts after being shot in the thigh on Memorial Day, police said.

Officers were called to Hartford Hospital about 11 p.m. Monday and talked to the man, who had a minor wound to his right thigh, Sgt. William Mooney said.

He told officers he was walking in the area of 33 Liberty St. about 3 p.m. Monday when someone came up to him, put his hand on his shoulder and fired a small-caliber, semi-automatic weapon with a brown handle, he said. A bullet grazed the man’s thigh; both men fled.

The man told police he then headed to a house party in Worcester, Mass. before returning and deciding to seek treatment at the hospital, Mooney said.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers tip line, 860-722-8477 (TIPS).
