When legislators seemed to be at a stalemate on tighter gun control in Connecticut, the families of those who died at Sandy Hook came to the state Capitol to push for action.  A little more than a week later, a bill passed and the next day Gov. Dannel Malloy signed the country’s tightest gun restrictions into law.

Friday, the families were back again, this time pushing for support for House Bill 6424, and a vote.  They demand action because there are only a few days left in this legislative session.

Bill 6424 would make Newtown an exception to Freedom Of Information laws.

It would immediately prohibit making public any death certificate of those who died at Sandy Hook, as well as prevent audio recordings of 911 and other emergency calls in the case from being released.

Bill 6424 would also deny the release of graphic photos taken at the school crime scene, which the families are most adamant doesn’t happen.

“Releasing these photos of murdered teachers and children will in no way help us learn from or prevent another tragedy,” said Dean Pinto, father of first grader Jack Pinto, who was one of the 20 children killed in the mass shooting.  “Instead, if these are released to the public, the only person who will learn from them is the next Adam Lanza,” Pinto said.
