hartford_countyEAST HARTFORD – A family of two adults and two children escaped a fire at their home at 65 Bissell St. early Friday.

Three of them were taken to an area hospital for a check-up, said Fire Chief John Oates.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said.

The family was sleeping when the fire broke out. One of the family members reported the fire around 4:53 a.m.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within 25 minutes, Oates said.

A back room, where the fire appears to have started, sustained significant damage. There was heat and smoke damage throughout the rest of the house.
