In partnership with West Middle School, The Hartford launched “Coloring Our Community,” a community initiative to inspire artistic talent and update the streetlamp banners surrounding the Asylum Hill headquarters.
The 16 recently installed banners feature artwork created by fourth through eighth-grade students, who participated in the unique program.
The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art also participated in the program, offering docent-led tours and hands-on art instruction for students as part of its “Museum on the Move: Community Outreach” program.
Employees from The Hartford voted to select one grand-prize winner. Shyann P. won for her painting, “A Community Full of Heart.” She will receive art supplies, museum passes and a special art experience provided by the Wadsworth.
Shyann and all the students were celebrated at a reception at the Wadsworth on Wednesday, June 5.
