The rain may have dampened the week, but so far it’s looking like we have a nice weekend in store.

For many marinas that means big business for Father’s Day Weekend.

At Indian River Marina in Clinton visitors stop by for all sorts of fun.

What they’re finding is weekday business has been a little dry, thanks in part to the recent wet weather.

“We had good weekends and washouts during the week,” said co-owner of Indian River Marina, Cathy Chase. “We did have a lot of cancellations during the week.”

This weekend they have 6 people lined up to work each day.

“When it rains there is no business, but when it’s sunny we get quite a bit,” she said.

At Rocky’s Aqua Restaurant at Cedar Island Marina this is turning out to be one of their best years.

“Generally we don’t get a lot of reservations for Father’s Day, but we’re bordering on close to 100 right

now, which is unheard of,” he said.

Kris Shapiro is the General Manager of Cedar Island Marina in Clinton. He says that hundreds of boats dock there and he’s excited about what the weekend will bring, considering things didn’t end well last year.

“Sandy was really the end of people’s year last year, and it’s nice to see people get out again,” said Shapiro. “Just being on the water in this environment really makes people in a better mood.”

To give you an idea on how much rain we’ve had this year, normally for the entire month of June we average around 4.35 inches. Right now we’re nearly double that and it’s just the middle of the month.
