Portland High School teachers Pat Ponko and Beth McCormick aren’t at all surprised that Erin Brady was crowned Miss USA Sunday night.
They know Brady as a woman who is smart, hard-working, articulate and cheerful, no matter what the odds. They know because they were two of Miss USA’s teachers at Portland High School.
Brady, a 25-year-old accountant who lives in South Glastonbury, became the first Miss Connecticut to ever win the coveted crown and now goes on to represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant later this year in Moscow.
