The Hartford Board of Education has voted not to extend the contract of Superintendent Christina Kishimoto. The decision was made at a Board of Education meeting on Tuesday night.

Many on the board lauded Kishimoto’s effort but said that the pace of reform in some of Hartford’s hurting schools is too slow.

But in a statement, Kishimoto pointed to increased graduation rates and the reduction of the achievement gap by one third between Hartford students and their peers statewide.

“As a resident of this city and as a parent of a child in this school system, I will continue my work,” Kishimoto said.

Her contract is set to expire in 2014.
