NEW HARTFORD — A 33-year-old woman who was reported missing after falling out of a raft on the rain-swollen Farmington River June 15 drowned, the state medical examiner has determined.
The medical examiner has also ruled Rachel Greene’s death accidental.
Greene and a man were riding in a raft about 2:30 a.m. June 15 when the raft hit a rock and both were thrown into the water. The man made it to shore. Four people had gone into the river in rafts near the Satan’s Kingdom State Recreation Area. The men, who have not been identified, made it out of the river.
Greene’s body was recovered Saturday from the Farmington River near Town Bridge Road in Canton.
Dennis Schain, a spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, said the agency’s environmental conservation police are still investigating the incident.
Police and firefighters in Farmington on Monday night recovered the body of a man from the Farmington River at the Tunxis Meade recreation area.
Authorities suspect the body is that of Nasir Alam, 25, of East Hartford, who was reported missing after falling off an inner tube in the river last week. The medical examiner has not yet identified the body.
