A local woman faces risk of injury to a minor charges after police found her 3-year-old son standing in Greta Street about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The boy was dressed only in pajamas and had no shoes on.

Officers talked to the boy, asked him where he lived and asked him to show them his favorite toys.

“Officers were led by the hand of this toddler to 76 Greta Street unit E 3,” said West Haven police Sgt. David Tammaro. “Officers entered and announced their presence, getting no response.”

Police asked the toddler where his mother was and he led an officer by the hand upstairs to a bedroom.

There, police said they found Misty Nelson, 26, and a man “who identified himself using four different names,” and another infant.

The officers told Nelson about what transpired and she said another adult must have left the door open and that the toddler walked out, police said. Nelson was charged risk of injury to a child.

The man, who was identified as Brandon Stovall, was charged with criminal impersonation and for felony warrants out of West Haven, New Haven and Stafford, Va. The state Department of Children and Families was also notified.
