NFL Player Aaron Hernandez is behind bars this morning. He was dropped from the New England Patriots and faces charges for the murder of Odin Lloyd and illegal possession of a firearm.

On Wednesday, police hauled Hernandez out of his house in North Attleborough, Mass. in handcuffs and brought him to face a judge. He was denied bail and he wasn’t allowed to change clothes before his hearing.

Hernandez reportedly signed a contract extension recently with the Patriots for $40 million. The Bristol native who was poised to do great things for his team, however, is now embroiled in a scandal on par with OJ Simpson, Michael Vick and other football big names who found themselves on the wrong side of the law.

One of the key pieces of evidence, the murder weapon used to kill Odin Lloyd, is missing in the homicide case.

Michael Fee, attorney for Hernandez, told the throng of reporters outside of court: “The defense team cannot comment today on this case we’re going to be pursuing it in court.”
