A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for all of Connecticut from noon today through Friday afternoon.

Low pressure will move in our direction with showers and thunderstorms, along with locally heavy downpours this evening into tonight. A wet, warm and humid pattern will continue through next week with periods of rain and thunderstorms, as well as intervals of hazy sunshine.

The jet stream pattern will continue to transport copious amounts of rain tonight into tomorrow, as an area of low pressure currently developing in the Ohio Valley will move into eastern New York State overnight into early tomorrow morning.  As the storm moves to our west, showers and thunderstorms will try to develop this evening along a developing warm front to start. Then, as the front moves into the Hudson Valley overnight, another batch of heavy rain will cross the region.

Total rainfall could reach two inches by tomorrow morning. Therefore, a Flash Flood Watch is effect for all of Connecticut through tomorrow afternoon, as flash flooding is a possibility, especially across areas where locally heavy downpours develop along a saturated ground.

The heaviest rainfall will exit the region Friday morning, however, instead of the cold front moving along and clearing our region, it will stall across the region late on Friday and continue to be the trigger mechanism for more thunderstorms.

This weekend, the stationary front will continue to be the focus with more showers and thunderstorms. It will not be raining all weekend, and there will dry periods with intervals of hazy sun.

By early next week, the front may move further westward with more heavy rain, especially on Monday. By the middle of next week into the 4th of July, our weather will feature more of the same: intervals of hazy sunshine and clouds, very warm and humid, with highs in the 80s and overnight lows in the 60s. It’s important to note, there is always the chance for a pop-up thunderstorm during the afternoon and evening hours.
