This week, Hartford Courant business columnist Dan Haar talks about a lawsuit filed against the state over Connecticut’s new gun control law, the market for vacation homes in the state and new technology introduced at Pratt & Whitney.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation filed their lawsuit Monday claiming that Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and lawmakers abused their power to quickly push through gun control legislation and said the law should be declared invalid. The lawsuit is one of several filed in response to the new gun control bill.

In real estate news, the Connecticut vacation home market is beginning to rebound, with realtors along the shoreline and in Litchfield County reporting that sales are picking up. According to HomeAway.com, an online site that matches vacation renters and properties, inquiries about properties rose 19 percent along the shoreline and 17 percent in Litchfield County in the first quarter of 2013, compared with the same period in 2012.

Finally, Pratt & Whitney has developed a new technology to use 3D printing to manufacture pieces for their jet engines.
