It’s National Rainier Cherry Day and to celebrate, Chef Manual Romero of Ibiza Restaurant joined the Fox CT Morning Extra to explain the difference between between a regular cherry and a rainier cherry.
The chef also demonstrates how to make a Rainier Cherry Salad, which requires: rainier cherries, baby arugula, goat cheese, fennel, almonds and lemon vinaigrette.
In 2001, after several months in Spain improving his culinary skills, Manuel Romero was hired as a sous chef in Café Pika Tapas in New Haven. One year later the restaurant changed its name and the concept of the cuisine, becoming Ibiza Restaurant. As an Executive Chef, Romero participated in several culinary events, including: Flavors of CT, Mohegan Sun Casino, New Haven and Foxwoods Food and Wine Festivals. The restaurant is located at 39 High St., New Haven.
