The Newtown-Sandyhook Community Foundation has begun the process of distributing its funds. Donations in the wake of the shooting raised more than $11 million. Of that total, $7.7 million is to go to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy, two teachers who were injured and 12 first-graders who escaped.

At a public forum Thursday night some argued that all $11 million should go to the victims and their families.

Consultant Ken Fienberg came up with a draft that would give 95 percent of the $7.7 million to those who lost loved ones. The two teachers would split $150,000 and the 12 first-graders would each get $20,000.

A final proposal is due Monday.
