Elena Delle Donne, who snubbed the UConn women’s basketball team for Delaware, is having a fantastic rookie season in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky.
Delle Donne is top five in the league in scoring, averaging 19 points per game, and is also top five in blocks. Add that to almost six rebounds a game and she’s having a great year for any veteran, let alone a first-year player.
Delle Donne credits her four years in college for preparing her for this next step and her teammates are quick to point our her humility and drive has made her jump to the pros look easy. At the beginning of July, Delle Donne was leading the fan vote for the 2013 WNBA All-Star Game.
