MILFORD – The heat is on, and today coastal Connecticut is under an Air Quality Alert from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. for high levels of ozone.

According to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), the high levels of ozone will make it harder to breathe in south central and southeastern coastal areas. The poor air quality will make it especially difficult for sensitive groups, such as the elderly and people with respiratory problems.

Experts recommend residents avoid strenuous activities outside and consider heading to a place that has air conditioning. This year, the state has already experienced 15 days of poor air quality, with temperatures in the 90s.
