HARTFORD — The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm warnings in parts of Connecticut, with a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire state through this evening.

Litchfield and Windham counties are under a warning until 3 p.m. or shortly thereafter, but the watch that is in effect for the whole state will remain until 9 p.m.

This past week’s heat wave peaked on Friday, with temperatures well into the 90s and heat indices in the triple digits for some. Widespread thunderstorms are expected to roll through Saturday night as a cold front approaches, according to Fox CT meteorologist Rachel Frank.
