HAMDEN — Firefighters rescued a hiker who fell approximately 50 feet down a ravine near Lake Wintergreen late Tuesday.
Battalion Chief Don LaBanca said the hiker 20 feet down a rock formation and another 30 feet down an uneven slope.
About a dozen firefighters were dispatched at 10:30 p.m. The hiker was lifted using a haul system and was then taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The scene was cleared around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Information on the hiker’s condition is not yet available.
LaBanca said the hiker was three-fourths of a mile away from a parking lot that is commonly used to access the park.
