The shocking Boston murder of a 24-year-old Springfield area native is making headlines across the country.

Reports say Amy Lord’s attacker beat her in her apartment, then, forced her on an unusual car ride before taking her life.

28-year-old Edwin Alemany, a man being eyed by Boston police for his possible involvement in Amy lord’s murder, was today deemed mentally unfit to be arraigned for allegedly beating one woman and stabbing another in the same vicinity where lord was found fatally stabbed Tuesday.

A surveillance photo of Lord comes from one of the five ATMs she was forced to withdraw money after she left a gym from early Tuesday morning. That afternoon, she was found stabbed to death in a Boston park.

Amy`s passing was the talk of the town in her native Wilbraham today.

Sarah Laba-Barry, who graduated with Amy from Minnechaug Regional High School, six years ago, says, “she was really sweet, really popular. A lot of people really liked her. Uh, always seemed really nice and happy and always in a good mood.”

For 34 years, Greg Lockhart, the owner of the Wilbraham Barber Shop, has posted different messages in his window each day. Today, he posted a message of pray for the Lord family.

“It gives something for the Lord family, you know, a nice comforting feeling, you know, uh, to know that the whole Wilbraham town, and all around, is all with them,” said the 44-year barber.

Calling hours for Amy Lord from will be held Monday, from 3 PM until 7 PM, at Sampson Funeral Home in Springfield. Her funeral is Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Cecilia in Wilbraham.
