Parent advocate Gwen Samuel and Achieve Hartford! Executive Director Paul Holzer talk about the Supreme Court drama in Bridgeport that makes for an uncertain future for Schools Superintendent Paul Vallas.

A lawyer for Bridgeport Schools Superintendent Paul Vallas filed a motion with the Connecticut Supreme Court seeking to keep him on the job while the court debates his future.

“There was no evidence of any actual, identifiable harm to anyone that would arise if the stay remains in place pending appeal,” wrote Steve Ecker, the Hartford attorney representing Vallas, said in the motion.

Ecker wrote that a superior court judge, who has ordered the Bridgeport superintendent’s immediate removal from office, “acknowledged that Mr. Vallas is doing a superb job under exceedingly difficult circumstances” and has made “great strides” in the improvement of the state’s largest school district.
