EAST HAMPTON – Area towns responded to an early morning fire at an East Hampton home that displaced three people. The fire was reported just before 1:00 a.m. Thursday at 64 North Maple St.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they encountered a heavy blaze in the basement of the home. Fire officials said the fire posed several challenges because it was located in the basement and floors on the first floor were damaged. One fire official said the house may be salvageable.
No injuries were reported and the state Fire Marshal’s office was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
