Alexis Carmichael is the creator of the “adopt a chick” program at Strong Family Farm in Vernon. For a small fee, you get to be part of a chicken’s life at the farm this summer and fall.
You don’t take the chicken home, but there are 10 visitation days and at the end of the program the chickens go to live with a local farmer. The program ends on Oct. 9.
Alexis has been raising chickens since 2010 when she started her own farm.
