WEST HARTFORD — Police are asking the public to help them identify a burglar who was found by a homeowner in a Glen Hollow Road kitchen Tuesday night.

Shortly after 10:15 p.m., the homeowner heard a loud noise and went to investigate. Upon confronting the stranger, the homeowner tried to restrain him but was unable to catch him before he ran out a back door — the same door through which he had forced his way in, police said.

He was last seen running south.

The burglar was described as 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a gray, hoodie-type of sweatshirt with the letters “SOA” or “SQA” on it. The man also may have had some type of facial hair.

The homeowner was not injured, police said. The burglar didn’t steal anything.

Several officers and detectives responded, as did a police dog and handler from the New Britain Police Department.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 860-523-5203.
