Standup comic Dave Chappelle — who walked off the stage in Hartford on Thursday, Aug. 29, during a show at Comcast Theatre, after fans booed him for refusing to tell jokes — lashed out at the city during a performance in Chicago on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
“I don’t want anything bad to happen to the United States,” Chappelle said, as reported on tmz.com, “but if North Korea ever drops a nuclear bomb on this country, I swear to God I hope it lands in Hartford, Connecticut.”
Chappelle then called the crowd “evil” … and described them as a bunch of “young, white alcoholics.”
“I wanted to pull a reverse Kramer and call them all crackers or something crazy like that,” tmz.com reported Chappelle as saying. He was referring apparently to a racially offensive standup show comic Michael Richards (Kramer from “Seinfeld”) performed in 2006.
