Greenwich Man Accused Of Beating Wife With Baseball Bat

GREENWICH — A Round Hill Road man accused of bludgeoning his wife with a baseball bat Tuesday night is to be arraigned Wednesday in Superior Court in Stamford.

Michael F. De Maio, 55, was charged attempted murder and first-degree assault and held overnight on $1 million bond.

His wife, Diane S. De Maio filed for a legal separation Sept. 5 in Superior Court in Stamford.

Police said they were called to 261 Round Hill Road at 6:11 p.m. Tuesday for a report of domestic dispute and found that it had turned violent. Diane Di Maio was taken to Stamford Hospital with several blunt force injuries and is in critical condition, police said.
