The child was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center about 12:30 and was in cardiac arrest, police said. Hospital officials called police.
Officers initially went to a home on Burnham Street, but then moved their investigation to 162 Middlefield St. after gaining additional information. Police went into the house to see if anyone was in it, and then backed out. They have set up crime scene tape around the house.
Police said their investigation is in its early stages and that they do not have much information to release.
One person has been taken from the home to police headquarters for questioning.
