This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

Summer heat and humidity will move out as quickly as it arrived. Today is the last warm and sticky day before an autumn chill returns.  But this steamy air mass is not going down without a fight! Showers and storms will break out from west to east in the afternoon and evening as a cold front swings through.  Any storms that develop have the potential to be severe with gusty winds, lightning and hail.  Cooler, less humid air arrives Friday. By Saturday we’re trading shorts for sweatshirts.

Today: Warm and humid with scattered storms developing in the afternoon and evening from northwest to southeast. Temperatures in the low to mid 80s.

Tonight:  Scattered thunderstorms. Low: Mid 60s.

Friday: Cooler and less humid. Chance for a lingering shower early. Otherwise, clouds breaking for some sunshine. High temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a chilly fall feel! High temperatures staying in the 60s.

Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny. High temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

Monday: Partly to mostly cloudy. Slight chance for a sprinkle. High temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s.
