The Capitol Report panel discusses Republican Tom Foley’s decision to create an exploratory committee eying a run for governor in 2014. Foley narrowly lost to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in 2010.

Greenwich Republican Tom Foley, who has has made no secret of his political ambition, will announce Tuesday in Bridgeport that he is opening an exploratory committee for governor.

Foley, a business executive who spent more than $10 million of his own money in his first quest for governor in 2010, will speak to reporters and Republican leaders at a nonprofit community center on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport’s Black Rock section. The neighborhood is a relatively strong area for Republicans in a city that votes overwhelmingly for Democrats.
