Greenwich Republican Tom Foley, who has has made no secret of his political ambition, will announce Tuesday in Bridgeport that he is opening an exploratory committee for governor.

Foley, a business executive who spent more than $10 million of his own money in his first quest for governor in 2010, will speak to reporters and Republican leaders at a nonprofit community center on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport’s Black Rock section. The neighborhood is a relatively strong area for Republicans in a city that votes overwhelmingly for Democrats.
