Friday Night Forecast: Clouds Build Saturday, Rainy Start To Sunday

Weatherwise, it would be tough to top what we had this week.  Looking ahead to next week, it looks to be another phenomenal stretch of weather. So what’s the is...

So what’s the issue? It’s the stuff in between.

Saturday is — take a deep breath, summer lovers — the final full day of summertime, and we’re going out with a summer-like bang. Temperatures are above normal, shooting for 80 degrees, running a half-dozen degrees above normal. In fact, not only will the temps be above normal, the dew points will be high – not in oppressive territory, but high enough that the usual crisp feel of late September will be absent.

This is all short-lived. A front approaching late Saturday night will shake things up and bring us a good opportunity for showers and thunderstorms late Saturday into early Sunday morning. If you’re headed to the Rent to see UConn take on Michigan,  your tailgating party will likely be dry. But toward the end of the game we may get our first raindrops.

As the front passes, the temps drop, the humidity erodes, and fall weather takes over, which is perfectly convenient, since the autumnal equinox arrives at 4:44 p.m. Sunday. And speaking of fall-like weather, crisp autumn air dominates next week.
