It’s getting harder and harder to describe this forecast. How many different ways can you say ‘sunny and dry, with no rain in sight’?  This is the challenge for meteorologists because the forecast for the next few days doesn’t seem to be changing much.

High pressure remains in control. It has been providing us with a lot of sunshine for the past week, and even in a slightly weaker form, it continues to hold court over us Sunday. I do expect temperatures to be a touch cooler Sunday, thanks to a few clouds developing primarily in the southeastern part of the state. High temperatures will run in the lower 70s, a slight drop from Saturday’s highs, but still close to normal for a late September day.

We’ve been watching an area of low pressure for days, and wondering about a few computer models that suggested a big rain for us for Monday. The only problem? Our ridge of high pressure has other plans, like keeping this low from moving close enough to Connecticut to bring us any rain. So it’s clouds for us on Monday, at the worst, followed by another stretch of sunny and dry weather for the rest of the week. And the bonus?  A few warmer days for the midweek, with some temperatures in the state getting to 80.
