Another late August– like day, with mostly sunny skies and afternoon high temperatures approaching 80 degrees. A shower is possible late Friday and Friday night. Then expect lots of clouds, but mostly dry weather this weekend, then soaking rain possible late Monday into Tuesday.

High pressure off the southeast coast will continue to transport mild air with highs approaching 80 degrees. A warm front will slowly move in our direction tomorrow and into the weekend, with lots of clouds and few light showers. Most of the shower activity will be scattered, with the most significant rainfall slated for central and northern New England. In fact, weak high pressure may develop off the New England coast this weekend, allowing for some intervals of sunshine. Temperatures will average 5-10 degrees above normal throughout the weekend, despite the clouds, due to a warm pattern across the east coast.

A cold front will slowly approach Connecticut Monday into Tuesday, with a band of showers and the potential for a soaking rain. Tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico could enhance the rainfall. The last time we had a soaking rain was on Sept. 22.

High pressure will build back into the northeast by the middle of next week, with sunshine and mild temperatures, signifying a big pattern change.
