An adult and young child are recovering in the hospital after they were hit by a vehicle while they were walking in Stratford.
Stratford Police say the incident happened at the intersection of Barnum and Bruce avenues. The area was closed off for several hours while police reconstructed the scene.
Witnesses say they heard screaming and saw lots of blood. They say a grandmother and a little girl were hit around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. While we do not know if speed was a factor, this incident prompted many residents to speak out about cars driving too fast through the area.
“I am very alarmed,” said neighbor Racquel Clarke. “People speed down this street all the time.”
Another neighbor, Justina Hay, said sometimes she has to take matters into her own hands to get people to slow down.
“It’s a shame. I sometimes yell at the cars to slow down because it’s not OK. There’s a ton of kids that live on
this street. It’s scary,” she said.
The two victims were taken to a hospital in Bridgeport. Their conditions weren’t released.
