AVON — The cause of a fire Tuesday that heavily damaged the building housing the Avon Medical Group at 30 West Avon Road remains under investigation.
The fire was called in around 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday by a police officer patrolling the area, said Fire Marshal James DiPace.
Heavy smoke was flowing from the lower level of the two-story building and from the roof, he said.
Firefighters brought the fire under control within an hour. The lower section of the building sustained heavy fire damage and there was smoke damage throughout the entire building, DiPace said.
The building houses two laboratories, two doctors’ offices and a walk-in clinic.
