The shake-up continues in Hartford.

Friday Mayor Pedro Segarra replaced acting chief operating officer Saundra Kee Borges with former Windsor town manager Albert Ilg. Ilg will take over until the city finds a permanent COO.  Kee Borges will continue as corporation counsel.

It’s the fifth department head change since late August.  In August Mayor Segarra fired the head of emergency services over a slew of problems, including a dispatcher using a racial slur over a city radio.   In September he sacked the deputy director of public works after police said she was drunk when she crashed her city-issued car, and just days later, he asked the city’s finance and public works directors to resign.

The mayor understands why some people might be concerned but says,” What I’m doing is for people not to be worried about leadership in Hartford.”

Segarra says his goal is to have a fully staffed organization by the end of this year.
