GREENWICH — Police said Friday their investigation into the death of Bartlomiej Palosz has found no one criminal liable for his apparent suicide.
The 15-year-old, who was known as Bart, shot himself to death Aug. 27, the second day of school in Greenwich, with a shotgun that had been stored in a gun locker in his family’s home, police said. The state medical examiner ruled his death a suicide.
His family has said it believes his suicide was caused by bullying they say he suffered at school.
He also posted comments to his Google+ page referencing suicide. In a June 7 post he wrote, “Goodbye forever my good friends, goodbye, I regret nothing.”
In a dialogue that followed, he wrote: “I have chosen to go with 3 peoples advice and kill myself. I just wish it was faster” and later he posted a video of a song he wanted played at his funeral.
Police Lt Kraig Gray said detectives’ investigation “revealed no criminal aspects to this case.”
“The scope of any police investigation involving an untimely death is to investigate the incident as a criminal case until the facts prove differently,” Gray continued. “The determination of a death as a suicide is based on a series of factors that eliminate other potentialities. Often in suicide cases the motive is never determined. In this instance, our investigation did not uncover any articulation by Bart as to why he took this particular action.”
