FARMINGTON — A Farmington man is to be arraigned Monday in Superior Court in Hartford on charges that he assaulted his 7-week-old child, leaving the infant with several fractures.
Farmington police served an arrest warrant on Morsy M. Elzawawy, 29, of 304 Colt Highway, at 11:55 a.m. Friday and he posted $250,000 bail. The warrant charges Elzawawy with first-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Police said they were notified by state Department of Children and Families investigators, who had been contacted by officials at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Hospital staff reported to DCF that they were treating a child for multiple fractures and that the parents could not offer an explanation as to what happened to the baby.
Farmington detectives investigated and obtained the warrant for Elzawawy’s arrest. The injured baby and a sibling have been removed from the home by DCF as the investigation continues, police said.
