EAST HARTFORD — Seven students and the driver of the school bus they were aboard were taken to area hospitals for treatment of bumps and bruises after their school bus was involved in a collision on Forbes Street Wednesday morning.

The collision was reported at 8:16 a.m. in the area of 1410 Forbes St. Injuries appeared minor and most students were being transported to area hospitals as a precaution, East Hartford Fire Chief John Oates said.

The bus was carrying students to Thomas S. O’Connell School on May Road.

The Ambulance Service of Manchester said it has sent eight ambulances to the scene and transported six students to Connecticut Childrens Medical Center, the driver to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, and one student to Manchester Memorial Hospital. All injuries were described as minor.
