16-year-old Valanna Davis’s parents say they have always had the best interest of the four children at heart. So, they sought assistance for their daughter from the Department of Children and Families when they realized their daughter’s challenges were too much for them to handle as a family. The family is now blaming DCF, though, for the disappearance of their daughter, who they say has been missing for a month.

Davis was living in a group home operated by the West Hartford based Bridge Family Center when she was last seen on September 21, the day she had a hair appointment, from which she never returned.

Valanna’s parents, Joseph Davis and Paula Sudoc, say they thought their daughter, who has a history of running away from home, would be safe in the hands of DCF.

“She was placed into a home where they were aware of Valanna’s condition and that she was a flight risk. And, they chose to neglect that,” said Sudoc

The Bridge Family Center told Fox Connecticut they do not operate locked down facilities and that they do not check on their residents unless they say they are planning to be away from the home for an extended period of time.

The last sighting of Valanna Davis was by East Hartford Police, on October 6. But, they say they had no reason to hold her because they were not aware she was missing.
