NEW HAVEN — New Haven police responded to a call Sunday night concerning a reported home invasion, possible abduction and shots fired outside a residence on Stiles Street.

According to New Haven Police it “didn’t happen,” and that the initial report from one of three people in the house on Stiles Street about the supposed abduction was a fabricated story.

New Haven Police are still investigating.

“There was no home invasion, no gunfire, no abduction,” said public information officer David Hartman.

One of the members in the house had picked up his girlfriend earlier Sunday and fell asleep, waking up to find that his girlfriend was not there, police said.

Everyone was very intoxicated and the person who reported the incidents changed the story multiple times, police said.
