HARTFORD — Police detectives are asking the public for help in identifying a man they say robbed the Sovereign Bank at 115 Asylum St. Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the bank at 2 p.m., moments after a man approached a teller, implied he had a gun, then made off with $5,200.

The man was last seen walking east on Asylum Street.

He is described as a white man, 6 feet tall and about 185 pounds. He had several bottom teeth missing, police said. He was wearing a black knit cap, a green army fatigue jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.

The man’s image was captured by surveillance cameras and police released those on Tuesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Omayra Martinez-Baidy at 860-757-4251 or to email her at MARTO001@hartford.gov.
