Hal Elrod was hit by a drunk driver when he was 20 years old. He suffered permanent brain damage and was declared dead for a total of six minutes. Despite being in a coma for six days, breaking 11 bones and being told he would never walk again, Elrod has overcome obstacles to become a successful author and motivational speaker.
Elrod doesn’t remember the impact of the crash nor the six days following. But rather than dwelling on what happened, he accepted his situation and felt empowered to improve it.
“It’s amazing how when you stop focusing on what you don’t want, and focus on what you do want, all of your problems seem to fade away and you get excited about what’s possible,” Elrod says.
