HARTFORD — A woman was critically injured when she was shot multiple times in an apparent domestic dispute on Bulkeley Avenue Saturday afternoon, police said.
The shooter, who had been in a relationship with the woman for 11 years, fled the scene and later shot himself, Hartford police spokesman Lt. Brian Foley said.
The 29-year-old victim is in critical but stable condition with life-threatening injuries after being shot in the head and neck, Foley said.
The suspect, who has not yet been identified by police, was taken to a hospital and is in critical but stable condition, he said.
After the shooter fled the Bulkeley Avenue scene in a vehicle, he led police on a lengthy pursuit. Officers disabled the vehicle’s tires with stop sticks, Foley said.
The suspect ran to his residence on Ellsworth Street, where he “produces the firearm, puts it to his chin and shoots himself in the head,” Foley said.
